The Origin: Wooden Temper
Wooden Temper marks the origin of the project—and at the same time a decisive turning point in its development. As a pioneering work, it combines the structure of the square with GoldenEdge, integrating it into the project’s color palette for the first time.
In its purest form, it reduces the material to its essentials, laying the foundation for the Lake Zurich Trilogy. It embodies the power of reduction and forms the architectural basis upon which Lake Zurich sand is later added as an additional layer of depth.
Lake Zurich Sand: Purified Substance
As gold is refined in fire, so the sand from Lake Zurich undergoes its own purification process. Before it is used alongside other materials in the Lake Zurich Trilogy, the sediment undergoes a multi-stage process: repeated washing, thermal stabilization at 200°C, and final sieving into fine and coarse fractions.
This heat is more than a technical step of sterilization; it is an act of liberation. It transforms the raw material into a stable element, freed from biological processes. Just as fragments are elevated to dignity only through gold, this fire prepares the ground for the foundation: a material that has been physically purified to serve GoldenEdge as a vessel of stillness.
The Lake Zurich Trilogy: “Trilogy of Stillness”
Guided by the theme of stillness, the current works are divided into three series: TERRA (Origin), STONE (Structure), and LAKE (Depth).
Lake Zurich sand serves as the unifying element. It provides the basis for a cohesive color palette across all series, with varying emphases: from warm earth tones through neutral shades to cool, light-filled hues. Complemented by GoldenEdge and the square, a dialogue of matter, form, and density is created.
